The LdnOnt Lookbook is an independent directory of grooming businesses in London, Ontario, currently 51 barbershops across 12 neighbourhoods. This page explains exactly how shops get listed, how their details are checked, and what we do when we cannot confirm something. If you think any of it is wrong, we would rather hear about it than not.

No paid placement, ever

We are not affiliated with any shop listed here. There is no paid placement, no sponsored listing, no advertising, and no fee to be included. No business has paid to appear, to rank higher, or to have anything removed. Every shop that meets the standard below receives the same listing treatment, regardless of its size or marketing budget.

How a shop qualifies

Every shop is measured against four requirements before it can be listed:

The review threshold matters as much as the rating. Below roughly 75 reviews, there isn’t enough signal to trust the average, because a handful of ratings can move it a long way. A 4.9 from 12 people tells you much less than a 4.6 from 400.

Three things are rejected automatically: national chains such as Sport Clips, Great Clips, and First Choice, because this directory is for independent shops; any business marked permanently closed; and duplicates of a shop already listed.

Every one of the 51 published shops clears that bar. Ratings run from 4.4 to 5.0, averaging 4.84, across 20,474 reviews.

How we check the details

We research each shop based on what it publishes about itself: its Google Business Profile, its website, its Facebook and Instagram pages, and its online booking page. Address, hours, phone number and services are cross-checked across those sources. Anything that disagrees between sources is held back rather than published.

Where a shop describes itself well, we use its own words rather than inventing atmosphere. The details that make these listings worth reading- the barber who speaks five languages, the shop with a licensed bar, the one that is cash only- all came from the shops themselves.

We do not visit shops in person. This is desk research from published sources, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. It is why every listing carries a last-verified date, and why we recommend confirming with the shop before you travel. Hours change, staff move, and a shop’s Tuesday is not always the Tuesday on its website.

What “we don’t know” looks like

Most directories present themselves as complete. This one does not. Every detail field has three states, not two:

A blank is never a quiet no. It means we looked into it and could not confirm it, so we left it empty rather than guessing. Where that leaves us today:

Those gaps are the honest part. Filling them with assumptions would make this directory look more complete but less accurate.

What we remove, and why

The clearest test of a directory is what it takes down, not what it puts up. Four examples of information we removed because we could not stand it up:

How we draw neighbourhood lines

Shops are assigned to neighbourhoods the way London residents actually describe them, not by postal code and not by ward map. Richmond Row ends at Oxford Street. Dundas Street splits at Adelaide, with Downtown to the west and Old East Village to the east. Wortley Village ends at Baseline. These lines reflect real commercial and cultural differences, and they shape who walks through each shop’s door. The directory currently covers 12 neighbourhoods.

How current this is

Every listing displays the date its details were last verified. All 51 listings were last verified on 13 August 2026. We have re-checked published prices roughly every quarter since April 2026, most recently in August 2026, because price lists go stale faster than anything else on a listing.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us, and we will fix it. That includes owners who want their own listing corrected, updated, or removed. Use the Claim Your Listing form. Corrections from a shop about its own details take priority over anything we found elsewhere.

Common questions

Do barbershops pay to be listed on The LdnOnt Lookbook?

No. There is no paid placement, no sponsored listing, no advertising, and no fee to be included. No business has paid to appear, to rank higher, or to have anything removed. We are not affiliated with any shop listed here.

How do you decide which shops to include?

Every shop must have a rating of 4.3 stars or higher, at least 75 reviews, a working phone number, and a real street address rather than just the city name. National chains, permanently closed businesses, and duplicates of an existing listing are rejected automatically. All 51 published listings currently meet that standard.

Do you visit the shops in person?

No. We research each shop from what it publishes about itself: its Google Business Profile, its own website, its Facebook and Instagram pages, and its online booking page. Details are cross-checked across those sources. Because this is desk research rather than in-person visiting, every listing shows a last-verified date and we recommend confirming with the shop directly before you travel.

What does a blank field on a listing mean?

It means we could not confirm that detail from any source, so we left it empty rather than guess. A blank is never a quiet no. A listing showing no walk-in policy is one where we could not confirm the policy, not one that turns walk-ins away.
